Jacob: Alright everybody welcome back for another deep dive. Today we're goanna be digging into TMG industrial mowers
Breanna: okay
Jacob: we got all their marketing materials right here
Breanna: sounds good
Jacob: we're goanna arm you with the knowledge you need to tackle any landscaping challenge
Breanna: right
Jacob: whether you got a big yard or small yard or something in between
Breanna: yep
Jacob: you're goanna know what to do after listening to this deep dive. We're talking about two main types of mowers.
Breanna: okay
Jacob: flail mowers and rotary mowers. So first off let's talk about the flail mower. They talk about it being good for rough terrain in the marketing materials
Breanna: yeah
Jacob: what does it really mean?
Breanna: well rough terrain basically means anything that's not like a perfectly manicured lawn
Jacob: okay
Breanna: so if you got like you know a field that's got some bumps in it yeah, you've got some dips maybe a little bit of a slope maybe a little bit overgrown. That's where a flail mower is really goanna excel now
Jacob: how is a flail mower different from say like a brush hog
Breanna: So a flail mower and a brush hog are similar in that they're both designed for cutting through tough vegetation. But a flail mower uses these little hammer blades
Jacob: okay
Breanna: that are attached to a spinning drum
Jacob: I see
Breanna: And as that drum rotates those blades just pulverize anything in their path
Jacob: this is like a more refined brute force
Breanna: Exactly it's kind of like a controlled chaos
Jacob: okay
Breanna: it can handle things like thick grass weeds even saplings sometimes but it gives you a finer cut than you would get with a brush hog. And it also does a really good job of mulching the clippings
Jacob: oh it was interesting they talk about this mulching action
Breanna: yeah
Jacob: what is that all about
Breanna: so mulching basically means that the mower chops up the clippings into really fine pieces and those pieces then decompose really quickly adding nutrients back into your soil
Jacob: this is like built in composting
Breanna: exactly it's a great way to kind of naturally fertilize your lawn
Jacob: I like that now. I'm looking at this picture of the flail mower here
Breanna: yeah and it's got this thing called hydraulic side shifting
Jacob: yes it looks like an extendable arm
Breanna: so hydraulic side shifting is a really cool feature that allows you to basically move the mowing deck side to side without having to move the tractor itself.
Jacob: So how does that help me?
Breanna: it lets you get really close to obstacles
Jacob: okay
Breanna: like fences, walls
Jacob: yeah
Breanna: trees even those awkward corners that we all have in our yards
Jacob: yeah
Breanna: without having to worry about dinging up your equipment
Jacob: so is this feature more useful for like a homeowner or like a professional landscaper
Breanna: you know it's really helpful for both
Jacob: okay
Breanna: as a homeowner, it makes those tedious edging tasks so much easier
Jacob: yeah I can see that
Breanna: you know you don't have to go back and do a bunch of trimming
Jacob: right
Breanna: for a landscaper it's all about efficiency
Jacob: okay
Breanna: you can mow more properties in less time because you don't have to spend as much time maneuvering around obstacles
Jacob: makes sense now the flail mowers come in these different sizes
Jacob: they give 48, 60, 72 inches
Breanna: yep
Jacob: how do I know which one's right for me
Breanna: the size you need really depends on the size of your property and the type of vegetation you're dealing with
Jacob: okay
Breanna: if you've got a smaller property. You know maybe an acre or less and you're mainly dealing with grass and weeds. The 48 inch models probably gonna be plenty.
Jacob: okay
Breanna: if you've got a larger property, several acres or you're dealing with thicker tougher stuff like really tall weeds or small saplings. Then you might want to step up to the 60 or even the 72 inch model
Jacob: so bigger property bigger mower
Breanna: pretty much
Jacob: are those move on to rotary mowers
Breanna: okay
Jacob: these are kind of the classic mowers that everyone thinks of yeah. They're known for clearing tough overgrowth maintaining large areas
Breanna: that's right
Jacob: and they always advertise those clean precise cuts
Breanna: yep
Jacob: are they really more about power and precision
Breanna: yeah I would say so
Jacob: okay
Breanna: so unlike a flail mower which uses those little hammer blades
Jacob: right
Breanna: a rotary mower uses a single heavy duty blade
Jacob: okay
Breanna: that spins horizontally underneath the deck
Jacob: I see
Breanna: and that design gives it a lot of power, it can really slice through thick grass and weeds, and it can cover a lot of ground very quickly
Jacob: they're always talking about these clean precise cuts. Is that just about making my lawn look pretty or is there a practical benefit to that
Breanna: it's actually both
Jacob: okay a clean cut is healthier for your grass
Jacob: really
Breanna: yeah think about it like a cut on your skin, a jagged tear is more likely to get infected than a clean cut
Jacob: that makes sense
Breanna: Same thing with your lawn. A clean cut will heal faster and it's less susceptible to diseases.
Jacob: wow so it's not just about aesthetics, it's about the health of the lawn
Breanna: exactly. And it's especially important for things like sports fields golf courses where you really need that smooth even surface
Jacob: interesting
Breanna: and rotary mowers come in 60 and 72 inch widths. They do just like the flail mowers.
Jacob: so how do I choose between a rotary mower and a flail mower
Breanna: so if speed and efficiency are your top priorities
Jacob: okay
Breanna: And you really want that perfectly manicured look then rotary mowers probably the way to go. They're designed for maintaining large areas.
Jacob: okay
Breanna: giving you that golf course finish
Jacob: so flail mowers for those tougher uneven areas yeah and rotary mowers for speed and precision on those larger properties
Breanna: exactly
Jacob: it sounds like TMG Industrial really does have a mower for everyone
Breanna: I think they've got all the bases covered
Jacob: So the key takeaway here is know your needs, know your challenges
Breanna: right
Jacob: and match the mower to the task absolutely, you get the best results that way
Breanna: and your yard will thank you for it
Jacob: so there you have it flail mowers, rotary mowers. But you know what is missing
Breanna: what's that
Jacob: I think there should be a hybrid.
Breanna: A hybrid yeah that's an interesting thought
Jacob: Imagine a mower that could do it all handle the rough stuff in the big areas
Breanna: yeah
Jacob: and give you that beautiful clean cut
Breanna: Maybe some day. I mean technology is always advancing you never know
Jacob: all right. Thanks for joining us for another deep dive and happy mowing!
